Stratford ISD investigating alleged misconduct involving teachers and students

Stratford Independent School District (ISD) officials released a public statement Wednesday addressing two separate allegations of misconduct involving district teachers and students, prompting internal investigations and law enforcement involvement.

According to district officials, the administration was first made aware of an alleged incident on April 7, involving what they described as “unauthorized communication” between a teacher and a student. Just days later, on April 11, the district received additional information regarding a separate case involving an alleged inappropriate relationship between a different teacher and a student.

Superintendent and district leaders stated that as soon as the allegations surfaced, immediate steps were taken to begin internal investigations. Both incidents were promptly reported to local law enforcement agencies and appropriate regulatory authorities, as is required under Texas law and district policy. Stratford ISD has since been cooperating with all agencies involved in the investigations.

While details of the allegations have not been publicly disclosed due to the sensitive nature of the cases and to protect the privacy of those involved, the district emphasized that student safety remains a top priority.

“In response to these allegations, Stratford ISD has implemented various personnel measures to ensure student safety and to preserve the integrity of the ongoing investigations,” district officials said in the statement. Though specifics were not provided, such measures typically include placing employees on administrative leave pending investigation outcomes.

The district also reaffirmed its commitment to professional conduct, noting that all Stratford ISD employees undergo routine training on appropriate boundaries and ethical behavior in accordance with district policy and state guidelines. “Employees are informed regularly about the expectations for professional interactions with students,” the statement noted.

District leaders urged the community to speak up if they suspect any form of educator misconduct. “Anyone with concerns is encouraged to contact school administration or local law enforcement immediately,” the district advised.

At this time, no further details have been released, and officials declined to comment on the identities of those involved, citing ongoing investigations. Stratford ISD stated it will not provide additional information until its internal review has been completed and law enforcement has concluded their proceedings.
