Five arrested after shooting and high-speed chase from Cassidy’s Polo Club

A night out turned violent early Tuesday morning after a brawl at Cassidy’s Polo Club escalated into gunfire, leading to a high-speed chase eastbound on Interstate 40 and the arrest of five individuals, according to the Amarillo Police Department (APD).

Officers were dispatched to Cassidy’s Polo Club at 1:02 a.m. on reports of a possible active shooter. When police arrived, they found chaos had unfolded after a fight broke out inside the nightclub and spilled into the parking lot. During the altercation, two individuals reportedly pulled out firearms and opened fire. It’s unclear how many shots were fired or if anyone was injured.

As officers secured the scene, four of the suspects fled in a vehicle, initiating a pursuit that continued onto eastbound I-40 and stretched beyond the Amarillo city limits. The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Carson County Sheriff’s Office assisted APD in the pursuit, which ended near Groom, roughly 40 miles from Amarillo.

Three men — Colton Odell, 21; Cruzito Benitez, 27; and Tony Salazar, 19 — were taken into custody and each charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Another suspect, Anysah Britt, 21, was arrested and charged with Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle for allegedly driving the getaway vehicle.

Meanwhile, a fifth individual, 21-year-old Kaden Argo, was arrested at Cassidy’s and charged with Public Intoxication. Police said Argo was allegedly involved in the original fight but did not participate in the vehicle chase or shooting.

All five suspects were booked into the Randall County Jail. Authorities have not released information about any injuries or whether additional suspects may be involved.

The Amarillo Police Department confirmed that the incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact APD or submit a tip through Amarillo Crime Stoppers.
