Borger police investigating double homicide, juvenile in custody

A tragic scene unfolded early Thursday morning in Borger, where authorities are investigating a double homicide that occurred at a residence on Canyon Street. A teenage male, believed to be a member of the household, has been taken into custody and charged with two counts of homicide.

The incident began around 12:24 a.m. when Borger Central Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a possible home invasion and shooting in the 1500 block of Canyon Street. Officers with the Borger Police Department arrived on scene within minutes and discovered two adults deceased inside the home.

Officials have now identified the victims as 52-year-old Aimee Frick and 46-year-old Steven Frick. Authorities confirmed that next of kin have been notified.

Shortly after law enforcement arrived, a juvenile male—reportedly a resident of the home—was detained at the scene. Following initial questioning and preliminary findings, he was arrested and formally charged with two counts of homicide. The suspect was later transported to a juvenile detention facility in Randall County.

Borger police, with the support of the Texas Rangers, secured a search warrant and began processing the scene early Thursday morning. Investigators spent several hours collecting physical evidence and interviewing individuals connected to the case. Officials believe there is no ongoing threat to the community.

Due to the suspect’s age and the sensitive nature of the case, authorities are withholding his name and additional identifying details in accordance with juvenile privacy laws. The motive behind the shooting has not been publicly disclosed, as investigators continue to piece together what led to the fatal incident.

A spokesperson for the Borger PD confirmed that the teen is believed to be an occupant of the home. At this time, it is unclear whether the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute, mental health concerns, or other contributing factors.

Community members are urged to come forward if they have any information related to the case. Tips can be directed to the Borger Police Department or Hutchinson County Crime Stoppers.

As of now, no additional details have been released. Authorities say the investigation remains active and ongoing.
