The Amarillo Police Department’s Cold Case Unit is once again turning to the public for help in solving a deadly shooting that occurred exactly four years ago outside a popular local venue.
On the night of April 8, 2021, officers were dispatched to Guitars and Cadillacs, a well-known bar and nightclub in Amarillo, after reports of gunfire in the parking lot. Upon arrival, they found two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds near their vehicle.
According to authorities, the victims were standing outside their car when they were shot. The driver sustained a gunshot wound to the arm, while the passenger, later identified as 20-year-old Uvante Douglas, was shot multiple times. Due to the severity of their injuries, the driver was unable to transport them immediately to the hospital. They were later taken to a local medical facility, where Douglas tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Now, four years later, the case remains unsolved, and investigators are hoping renewed public attention can generate new leads.
"This case is still very much active,” said a spokesperson from the Amarillo Police Department. “We are urging anyone who may have witnessed something that night — no matter how small it may seem — to come forward. Justice for Uvante and closure for his family depend on someone speaking up.”
