It’s not enough for Musk to have spearheaded the global transition to EVs; he also has to think the “right” thoughts, donate to the “right” causes, and—heaven forbid—never post memes that offend the professionally offended. Since they can’t shoot down SpaceX rockets or sabotage Starlink satellites (yet), Musk’s enemies are taking out their rage on Tesla, vandalizing cars, torching charging stations, and even tossing Molotov cocktails like they’re fighting off a Russian invasion.
In their mind, Teslas are no longer the trendy eco-status symbols of the affluent progressive class. No, they are now "swasticars"—the supposed electric equivalent of a Volkswagen in 1930s Germany. (Never mind that VW was actually started by, you know, the Nazis, while Musk was just trying to sell cool cars.)
Of course, everyone has the right to protest and choose where to spend their money. But when left-wing activism escalates into arson and gunfire—like the Tesla showroom shooting in Portland—it’s no longer consumer choice; it’s outright criminality.

What’s particularly rich about all this is that President Biden—desperate to push an EV revolution—spent billions trying to build a national charging network. Yet, it’s his own ideological allies who are destroying the very infrastructure needed to support it. There’s a metaphor in there somewhere—something about progressives and self-sabotage.
Meanwhile, Musk, for all his eccentricities, is still a builder. He’s launching rockets, connecting rural communities to the internet, and yes, making electric cars mainstream. His critics? They’re setting things on fire and congratulating themselves for it.
In the end, the great Tesla Takedown is just another example of how, for today’s Left, allegiance to the cause matters more than actual progress. If they have to burn down their own movement to prove a point, so be it. Welcome to 2025, where saving the planet comes second to punishing the wrong kind of billionaire.
