Kids, Inc. bans seven after fight, adds security to future events

A youth sports event meant to promote teamwork and positive development took a turn for the worse on March 22, when a fight broke out at a Kids, Inc. event. Following an investigation in collaboration with Amarillo Independent School District (AISD), seven individuals have been banned from all future Kids, Inc. activities, and the organization has announced new security measures for upcoming events.

Zero Tolerance for Misconduct

According to a press release from Kids, Inc., officials reviewed event footage and gathered witness accounts to identify those responsible for the altercation. As a result, these seven individuals are now prohibited from attending any Kids, Inc. games, practices, events, or facilities.

“This decision reflects our zero-tolerance policy for behavior that undermines the values of sportsmanship, respect, and community we strive to uphold,” Kids, Inc. stated.

The organization also emphasized that the actions of these individuals do not reflect the values of the broader Kids, Inc. community, including the dedicated volunteers and families who participate in its programs.

Increased Security for Future Events

For nearly 80 years, Kids, Inc. has operated without requiring on-site security. However, in light of this recent incident, the Board of Directors and Executive Team have decided to implement security measures at all future events.

While this change may lead to increased costs for participants, Kids, Inc. stressed that the safety and well-being of young athletes and their families remain the top priority.

“We deeply regret that this incident occurred and are dedicated to preventing similar situations in the future,” the organization stated.

A Longstanding Commitment to Youth Development

Founded in 1945, Kids, Inc. has been a pillar in the Texas Panhandle, offering sports programs that aim to instill discipline, teamwork, and confidence in young athletes. Despite this unfortunate event, the organization reaffirmed its dedication to providing a safe, positive, and enriching environment for youth sports.

With security enhancements now in place, Kids, Inc. hopes to deter future disruptions and maintain its focus on the growth and enjoyment of young athletes. The organization also expressed appreciation for the continued support of the community in upholding the core values of sportsmanship and respect.
