Firefighters are battling a fast-moving wildfire in Roberts County, now dubbed the “Windmill Fire.” According to the Texas A&M Forest Service, the fire has scorched approximately 750 acres and remains 0% contained as of the latest update.

Windmill Fire: Growing Threat in Roberts County

The Windmill Fire ignited earlier today and has spread rapidly due to dry conditions and strong winds, creating significant challenges for fire crews working to establish containment lines. Lake Tanglewood Evacuations Ordered

In a separate incident, a structure fire in the Lake Tanglewood area of Randall County has prompted urgent evacuations. The Randall County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) has ordered residents in the following areas to evacuate immediately:

Turtle Creek Dr.

Lake Tanglewood Dr. (north of the church)

Lago Vista St.

Overlook Rd.

Evacuees are being directed to the Cole Community Center in Canyon, where they can find shelter and emergency resources.

Gray County Fire Prompts More Evacuations, I-40 Closure Possible

Another wildfire is threatening communities in Gray County, particularly near Alanreed. Officials have begun evacuations as the fire moves toward the city of McLean.

In response to the growing danger, officials are considering shutting down Interstate 40 to protect motorists from rapidly advancing flames. Fire departments from Hoover, McLean, and Lefors have joined forces with the Texas A&M Forest Service to combat the blaze.
