Tom Scherlen, a longtime business leader and dedicated community servant, announced Monday that he will seek re-election for Place 3 on the Amarillo City Council.
“Serving Amarillo has been a privilege, and I’m excited to seek re-election,” Scherlen said. “I’m passionate about continuing the work to improve our neighborhoods, strengthen our economy, and make Amarillo the best it can be. I’d be honored to earn your vote and support.”
A Leader with Business and Community Experience
A graduate of Frank Phillips College and West Texas State University, Scherlen has spent nearly four decades in business, including serving as CEO of Austin Hose. His leadership extends beyond business, with a strong record of community involvement. He serves as President of the Amarillo Senior Citizens Association and is a member of AMBUCS. He has also been on the board of the 100 Club of the Texas Panhandle, currently serves on the board of Andrea’s Project, and volunteers with multiple local organizations.
His service also includes a national impact—helping Christian charities by facilitating the sale of Christian radio stations across the country. He sits on the boards of Edgewater Broadcasting and Radio by Grace and has been a Sunday school teacher and Bible study leader in Amarillo churches.
Scherlen and his wife of 51 years, Nancy, have two children and eight grandchildren.

A Vision for Amarillo’s Future
If re-elected, Scherlen plans to continue focusing on issues that matter most to Amarillo residents:

Infrastructure Investment: Improving roads, utilities, and public spaces.
