The City of Amarillo is looking to improving street safety, and residents have a chance to weigh in. As part of its Safe Streets and Roads for All Plan (SS4A Plan), the city aims to reduce fatal and severe traffic crashes by 35% by 2035.
This is Amarillo’s first comprehensive transportation safety action plan, developed through extensive community input and data analysis. The plan identifies safety challenges across the city and proposes 16 key projects to enhance roadway conditions for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists alike.
So far, the city has gathered insights from over 6,800 public interactions, along with a detailed crash analysis, to shape this initiative. Now, officials are asking for more feedback to ensure the plan reflects the needs and concerns of the community.

The SS4A Plan is expected to be adopted by the city council this spring, with implementation rolling out as funding becomes available.
