Amarillo Mayor Cole Stanley has officially announced his candidacy for re-election in the upcoming 2025 municipal elections. After serving as mayor for the past four years, Stanley expressed his commitment to continue working for the city and its residents.
“It’s been a privilege to serve my community over the last four years. It’s been hard and grueling work, at times an uphill experience. However, it’s been a worthwhile endeavor,” Stanley said in his announcement Friday. “I am willing to serve an additional two years if elected by the citizens of Amarillo.”
Reflecting on his time in office, Stanley highlighted the progress made over the last two years while acknowledging that there is still more work ahead. He emphasized his administration’s continued focus on public safety, infrastructure, and city cleanliness—three key priorities he hopes to build upon in another term.
Public Safety: Supporting First Responders
For Stanley, public safety remains a top priority, with a strong emphasis on supporting Amarillo’s police officers and firefighters. He stressed the need for a focused police presence in the community and ensuring that first responders have the resources they need.
“Our number one goal is to protect our most vulnerable,” Stanley said. “We need to take care of our first responders, and the city budget needs to reflect this.”
He emphasized that improving pay and working conditions for police and fire personnel is essential to retaining quality public servants, and he believes this can be accomplished without raising taxes.
Infrastructure: Prioritizing Growth Without Debt
Stanley also addressed Amarillo’s infrastructure, calling for a practical approach to growth that avoids unnecessary debt. He supports repairing and improving existing streets before taking on expensive new projects.
“With our budget, it’s our job to build a plan for growth and infrastructure, but it has to make sense,” he said. “I’m not opposed to growth, but let’s fix what we have instead of raising taxes.”
As a commercial and residential builder with over 20 years of experience, Stanley believes that infrastructure improvements require hands-on leadership and hard work.
Cleaning Up Amarillo: A Citywide Effort
In addition to public safety and infrastructure, Stanley is calling for a citywide cleanup initiative to improve Amarillo’s appearance and create a more welcoming environment for both residents and visitors.
“Every day, tourists make their pit stops here. That means revenue for both small and big business owners,” he said. “We can make a better impression, not just for them but for all of us who live here.”
Stanley’s plan includes improving trash pickup, solid waste collection, and holding the community accountable for maintaining clean streets, alleys, and parks.
A Business-Minded Problem Solver
Stanley, a lifelong Amarillo resident, has built a career as an entrepreneur, business leader, and mediator. With over two decades of experience in commercial and residential building, he has helped launch nearly 30 small businesses in Amarillo, many of which continue to thrive today.
“I believe that access to opportunity should be across Amarillo and not limited by education, status, or zip code,” he said.
Stanley currently serves on multiple boards and committees and is an active member of Messiah’s House Church. He describes himself as a problem solver, not a politician, committed to rolling up his sleeves and working alongside the community.
With his focus on public safety, infrastructure, and community pride, Stanley is asking Amarillo voters to grant him another term as mayor.
“Together, with your vote and confidence, we will continue to serve the great people of Amarillo with hard work and integrity.”
