Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced Saturday that the state will deploy resources to assist with the wildfire response near Los Angeles. The effort includes firefighters, emergency management personnel, medical staff, and essential fire equipment such as engines and ambulances.
“Our hearts grieve with the entire Los Angeles community as they continue to respond to these destructive wildfires,” Abbott said. “Texans know all too well the devastation wildfires can cause to our communities, and our country is stronger when we come together in times of crisis."
More than 135 personnel and 45 vehicles, including fire engines and command units, will join Californian crews in combating the fires. The deployment is being coordinated through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), a mutual aid system that enables states to share critical resources during disasters.
