Governor Greg Abbott announced a formidable fundraising effort for the 2024 fiscal year, pulling in more than $50 million and reporting over $70 million in cash on hand. His fundraising organization, Texans for Greg Abbott, generated $45 million, while the official campaign raised over $6 million, reflecting strong financial momentum as Abbott continues his third term.
The most recent report shows Abbott raised nearly $21.5 million from more than 33,000 individual donors, with 84% of contributions coming from Texas residents. In addition, $2 million was added to his cash-on-hand account during the same fiscal period.
Record Support from Major Donors and Grassroots Contributions
Campaign Manager Kim Snyder highlighted the depth of Abbott's support:
"The strong support our campaign received is a clear indication of the trust Texans have in Governor Abbott and his steadfast, conservative leadership."
One of the significant contributors included Pennsylvania billionaire Jeff Yass, who donated $6 million in the latter half of 2023 and another $4 million ahead of a runoff election.
Looking Toward the Future
Abbott emphasized that the robust fundraising figures signify strong backing for his leadership agenda:
"Raising over $50 million from every corner of the state showcases the strength of the Governor's vision for Texas. With nearly $70 million cash on hand, we are fully equipped to continue delivering on Governor Abbott's mission to keep Texas a beacon of freedom and opportunity for generations."
Political Landscape and Competition
Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, a close ally of Abbott, announced a competitive financial standing last week, reporting $33.5 million in cash on hand. Abbott, who has served as governor for nine years, faces re-election in 2026. With speculation about his potential presidential aspirations looming, his campaign war chest positions him as a formidable figure in both state and national politics.
