The City of Amarillo (COA) is offering residents with outstanding warrants or citations an opportunity to resolve their cases voluntarily with the launch of the COA Municipal Court Compliance Campaign starting Monday, February 3.
Donna Knight, the Director of Court Services and Court Administrator, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “There are many ways citizens can settle cases filed with the City of Amarillo Municipal Court. The compliance campaign allows residents to take advantage of these opportunities. We encourage citizens with outstanding citations to take the necessary steps to resolve their cases with the court.”
As part of the campaign, the COA Municipal Court will begin mailing warrant postcards on Monday. These postcards will inform residents of the opportunity to appear voluntarily and address any active warrants throughout the month of February. After the month concludes, beginning March 3, the COA Marshal’s Office will begin serving warrants.
Once a warrant is issued, residents have several options to resolve their cases. Depending on the specifics of each case, residents may choose to go to trial before a judge or jury, set up a payment plan, or complete community service. Additionally, individuals can either hire an attorney or represent themselves in court.
