Amarillo seeks volunteers for Accessible Parking Enforcement Program

Residents of Amarillo now have the opportunity to assist their disabled and elderly neighbors by becoming a part of the City of Amarillo's Accessible Parking Enforcement Program. This initiative encourages individuals to volunteer their time to help ensure designated parking spaces for those in need are used appropriately and protected throughout the city.

The COA Accessible Parking Enforcement Volunteers will play an essential role in maintaining accessible parking for elderly and disabled motorists by monitoring and enforcing parking regulations. By volunteering, participants will actively help preserve the integrity of designated handicap spaces, making it easier for those with mobility challenges to access the facilities they need.

The deadline to apply for the program is fast approaching—February 6 at 5 p.m. Training for new volunteers will be held on February 8, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Room 275 of the Simms Municipal Building, located at 808 S Buchanan Street. Training will cover essential procedures and provide all necessary equipment, ensuring that volunteers are fully prepared to carry out their duties.

To apply or for more information, residents are encouraged to visit the official City of Amarillo website at www.amarillo.gov/city-marshal/accessible-parking-enforcement-volunteer/.

This is a great opportunity to make a direct and positive impact on the Amarillo community by helping to create a more accessible environment for those who rely on special parking designations.
