Amarillo man killed in Borger, driver arrested for intoxication manslaughter

In the early hours of Saturday morning, a tragic incident unfolded in the 600 block of North Harvey Street in Borger. At approximately 1:50 a.m., officers were dispatched to the scene of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, authorities found 26-year-old Arley Morales of Amarillo lying in the roadway after being struck by a vehicle. Emergency responders immediately initiated CPR, with officers and medical personnel continuing lifesaving efforts. Morales was transported to Golden Plains Community Hospital but was later pronounced deceased.

Justice of the Peace Leslie Ford has ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 23-year-old Alyssa Moneymaker of Borger, was taken into custody at the scene. She has been charged with Intoxication Manslaughter and was transported to the Hutchinson County Jail.

The Borger Police Department has confirmed that the investigation is ongoing as they work to gather more details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
