Eight years later, Amarillo police continue search for Nicole Shante 'Nikki' Moore

Nicole Shante “Nikki” Moore, a devoted mother and cherished daughter, sister, and friend, has been missing since December 2016, leaving a heartbroken family and concerned community yearning for answers.

Nikki, a 32-year-old mother deeply committed to her 14-year-old son, was last seen in early December 2016. Her sudden disappearance, especially during the holiday season, alarmed her close-knit family. On December 11, 2016, after more than a week without contact, her mother, Andrea Moore, reported her missing.

The investigation took a significant turn on January 6, 2017, nearly a month after Nikki was reported missing. Her 2003 blue Cadillac CTS was discovered abandoned in the parking lot of a Toys R Us store on Soncy Road in west Amarillo. Inside the car, police found her wallet, but there was no trace of Nikki. The discovery deepened the mystery and heightened fears about her safety.

A Tragic Development

In a shocking twist, Billy Glenn Ivy was charged in connection with Nikki’s disappearance. Ivy, a controversial figure with a criminal record, became central to the investigation. However, the case took another tragic turn on September 16, 2020, when Ivy was found dead in his jail cell. His death, ruled a suicide, left many critical questions unanswered. Nikki has never been located, and the circumstances surrounding her disappearance remain a mystery.

Ongoing Investigation

The Amarillo Police Department Homicide Unit continues to actively investigate Nikki’s case, urging anyone with information to come forward. The department has emphasized that even seemingly minor details could be vital to solving the case.

A Family’s Unwavering Hope

Despite the years that have passed, Nikki’s family has not given up hope. They continue to hold vigils, share her story, and appeal to the public for assistance. The pain of not knowing weighs heavily, but their love for Nikki fuels their determination to seek answers and bring her home.

Nikki’s disappearance has left a lasting impact on the Amarillo community, highlighting the enduring pain families experience when a loved one goes missing. As her family and friends continue their search, they ask for the community’s support in keeping Nikki’s memory alive and the investigation active.

For those who knew Nikki, she was more than a missing person—she was a bright light, a devoted mother, and a beloved member of her community. Her family hopes that one day, the truth will come to light, and they can finally find peace.
