The Biden administration has been barred from disposing of border wall materials for the next 30 days, ensuring they remain available for President-elect Donald Trump to use upon taking office, according to a press release from the Texas Attorney General’s Office.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton celebrated the court’s decision, stating, “We have successfully blocked the Biden Administration from disposing of any further border wall materials before President Trump takes office. This follows our major victory forcing Biden to build the wall.” Paxton emphasized the commitment to holding the administration accountable for actions he claimed undermined national border security.
The ruling comes after allegations that the Biden administration had been selling parts of the wall despite a congressional mandate to allocate funds for its construction. Former President Trump had sought intervention from the Southern District of Texas court, accusing the administration of circumventing these requirements.
The court’s decision also grants Texas access to documentation proving compliance with a prior injunction mandating the use of federal funds for wall construction. The Texas Attorney General warned that any improper disposal or misrepresentation regarding the materials could lead to contempt of court and sanctions against those responsible.
President-elect Trump, set to take office on January 20, has vowed to reshape U.S. immigration policy, including plans for mass deportations and ending birthright citizenship. His recent appointments suggest a strong focus on implementing his hardline immigration agenda.
