Amarillo organizations bring joy to hospitalized children

This past Saturday, children at Northwest Texas Children’s Hospital were treated to a special holiday surprise, thanks to a collaboration between 101 Elite Men Amarillo and the Amarillo Fire Department.

For the fifth consecutive year, the two groups delivered toys to children spending the holidays in the hospital, bringing smiles and holiday spirit to young patients and their families.

“101 [Elite Men]—our main mission, our main goal—is to mold the youth, to be that bridge for them, to get them to a great spot,” said Kylor Williams, a member of both the Amarillo Fire Department and 101 Elite Men Amarillo. “This is a soft spot for us as an organization.”

Williams emphasized that the gesture helps bring a sense of normalcy to the children while also offering parents some financial relief. “Some of these parents are in a situation where they cannot give their kids gifts because of the situation they’re in, and so they’re always very thankful and blessed when we walk in there,” he said.

The effort began in early November with donation boxes set up at fire stations throughout Amarillo. The toy drive continues to serve as a way for both the fire department and 101 Elite Men Amarillo to give back to their community, spreading joy and hope to local families during the holiday season.
