Caroline Fairly wins District 87 Texas House seat

The Associated Press has called the Texas State House seat for District 87 in favor of Republican Caroline Fairly. Fairly, who ran against Democrat Timothy Gassaway and write-in candidate Jeffrey McGunegle, secured the victory.

“I believe this result shows that District 87 is ready for young, bold, conservative leadership, and that voters are open to supporting a young woman running for office. It reflects the direction Texas is headed, allowing the next generation of conservative leaders to step up," Fairly said.

Fairly, who previously worked on Representative Ronny Jackson’s Congressional campaign and followed him to Washington, D.C., was encouraged by her community to run after Representative Four Price announced he would not seek reelection.

“My focus is on what matters to the district—issues like water, wildfire management, public education, and ensuring rural healthcare access to quality providers,” she explained. “I want to make sure the Panhandle gets the resources and attention it needs.”

Looking ahead to the next legislative session, Fairly emphasized her commitment to representing all of her constituents, regardless of how they voted.

“My goal is to bridge divides and collaborate for the future of the district and Texas. Open communication is key for me. I’m always available to listen and respond to the needs of the people. I give out my cell phone because I believe in being accessible and making sure people can reach me when they need to,” Fairly said.
