The Texas Rangers are investigating the recent death of a Randall County Jail inmate. Bryan Fields was found unresponsive in his cell at about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16.
"Correctional officers immediately initiated life-saving measures," the Randall County Sheriff's Office said in a press release. "Emergency medical services arrived shortly after and continued to administer life-saving procedures. Despite their efforts, inmate Fields was pronounced deceased."
Fields was booked into Randall County Jail on March 16, 2023, on charges of stalking, according to the Sheriff's Office. On July 14, 2023, additional charges were filed, including one count of assault on a public servant and two counts of harassment by a person in a correctional/detention/civil commitment facility.
Authorities said on Aug. 31, 2023, the charge of assault on a public servant was dismissed.
