Seth Altman arrested in Fort Worth

The man whose crime woke up all of Texas when authorities issued a blue alert in the wee hours of a Friday morning at the beginning of October has finally been apprehended.

Fort Worth Police found and arrested Seth Michael Altman, who is accused of attempted capital murder of a peace officer in Memphis, Texas, on Friday, Oct. 25.

Altman was added to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list after he allegedly shot at Memphis Police Chief Rex Plant multiples times and then fled on foot on Oct. 3. Chief Plant and another officer were attempting to execute an arrest warrant for Altman for burglary when he open fired on the police chief.

Altman had been on the run for more than three weeks with a $10,000 bounty on his head when the Fort Worth Police Department took him into custody near 1300 E. Lancaster Ave at approximately 4:57 p.m. on Friday.

“The arrest was made without incident, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the FWPD and additional law enforcement agencies,” the department tweeted.

Altman was booked into the Tarrant County Lon Evans Corrections Center, where he’s being held on a $1 million bond, according to the Tarrant County public records.

“This successful operation underscores the commitment of Texas law enforcement to pursue and apprehend fugitives who pose a threat to public safety,” the department added. “The Fort Worth Police Department remains dedicated to ensuring community safety and will continue to collaborate with state and local partners to deliver justice.”
