Perryton Asst. Fire Chief passes away


The City of Perryton is saddened to report that Assistant Fire Chief Scott Glass passed away earlier on Sunday following head injuries sustained while responding and setting up to fight a fully engulfed structure fire in north Perryton during the late hours of October 17, 2024.

Mayor Kerry Symons stated, "We are beyond heartbroken with the loss of Assistant Chief Glass. We would ask the Perryton community to lift Scott's wife Melissa, his two children, other family members, and especially the Perryton Fire/EMS Department in prayer."

Glass was a highly valued employee of the city for over 17 years. Aside from being a Certified Firefighter and Paramedic, he served this country in the US Army for four years. He grew up in McLean, TX, where his parents continue to reside.

Two other volunteer firefighters were injured in the accident as well. Thomas Beal sustained a broken arm and other fractures and Jacob Anderson was initially taken to Ochiltree General Hospital where he was treated and released with minor injuries.
