Former Randall High School basketball coach Leslie Broadhurst, a beloved figure in the community, passed away after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was a dedicated coach and mentor who left an enduring legacy on the basketball program and the lives of countless students.
"It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Coach Leslie Broadhurst," said Canyon ISD Athletics on X, formerly known as Twitter. "Coach Broadhurst was more than a leader on the court, he was a mentor and a friend. Please keep the Broadhurst family in your thoughts and prayers."
For 36 years, Coach Broadhurst poured his heart and soul into the community, guiding the Raiders with unwavering dedication. With 701 career wins and two UIL state tournament appearances, his legacy on the court is unparalleled—but his impact goes far beyond basketball.
Coach Broadhurst was more than a coach; he was a friend, a mentor, and a bright spirit who lifted up everyone around him. He had an unmatched passion for the game, for his family, and for making people laugh. His kindness, strength, and commitment to the students and community will never be forgotten.
In recognition of his significant contributions to the school and the community, the Randall High School gymnasium was named in his honor in April.
