The City of Dumas released a statement concerning a possible embezzlement of city funds by the Dumas Downtown Association Executive Director, Irene Delgado.
According to Dumas Mayor Bob Brinkmann, the City of Dumas and the Dumas Downtown Association learned of an investigation related to possible embezzlement of funds from the city. Delgado was placed on unpaid leave pending results of the investigation.
Delgado later submitted her written resignation. Her resignation was effective immediately.
"The City Commission, the Chamber of Commerce and the Dumas Downtown Association will begin working immediately to preserve and enhance the many positive contributions the Association has brought to our community over the past years," Brinkmann said. "These events are important, and all possible steps will be taken to continue the valuable work of this Board and its many volunteers."
