This is yet another example of why Biden's handlers try to keep him away from the press as much as possible. Scranton Joe agreed to an interview with CBS News and he was asked a bit of a loaded question. He was asked if he believed there would be "a peaceful transfer of power" after this year's election. Biden insisted that he was "not confident at all" that such a thing would happen. Unfortunately for him, he prefaced the remark by saying "if Trump wins." To his credit, he quickly corrected himself, saying "I mean if Trump loses." But no matter which way you parse it, his remarks still don't make any sense. At this point, of course, that probably shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.
From the NY Post:
In his first interview since ending his re-election bid, President Biden expressed doubt Wednesday that there would be a peaceful transfer of power if former President Donald Trump loses the 2024 election.“If Trump wins, no, I’m not confident at all,” the 81-year-old president told “CBS News Sunday Morning” before quickly catching himself.“I mean if Trump loses I’m not confident at all,” Biden clarified in the interview taped Wednesday at the White House and that will air in its entirety on Sunday.
Biden went on to become even more garbled. He began talking about how Trump "means what he says" and that "we don't take him seriously." He started talking about "a bloodbath" and the election being "stolen." He then began complaining about Republicans "putting people in places" where the votes are counted before seeming to trail off.
It's obvious that CBS was just trying to toss Biden an opportunity to resurrect the entire J6 narrative, but Joe managed to bungle even that much. First of all, there was a peaceful transfer of power after the 2020 election. It was just delayed by a few hours because of the riot. Donald Trump went on to leave office on schedule and Biden was sworn in without incident, much to our national regret at this point.
Also, it won't matter whether Trump wins or loses in November in terms of peacefully transferring power. Trump isn't in power. If he loses, the Democrats will retain it and he won't be able to change that. If he wins, the only people who would be in a position to disrupt the transfer would be Biden and the Democrats.
Then there's the issue of having people "watching" the votes being counted. What is Biden going on about here? It's totally normal to have election monitors at polling places. The problem is we typically don't have nearly enough of them. The GOP is currently working to train and deploy a lot more of them and we're probably going to need them based on recent history. They don't represent an attempt at election interference. They are an insurance policy against election fraud, such as has been recently seen in Connecticut, New York, and Louisiana. (And those are only the places where they managed to get caught.)
If Biden and the Democrats were actually worried about ensuring a peaceful transfer of power they would be pushing for far more transparency in the electoral process. But they're not. This is all a blatant effort to keep the legacy media hyperventilating over January 6 and scare off wavering Trump voters. Spared us your crocodile tears, please.
