Trump names Dan Bongino as deputy FBI director

President Donald Trump announced Sunday that Dan Bongino, a former U.S. Secret Service agent and conservative media personality, will serve as Deputy Director of the FBI.

Trump made the announcement on his social media platform, Truth Social, praising Bongino as a patriot with a deep dedication to American justice.

“Great news for Law Enforcement and American Justice! Dan Bongino, a man of incredible love and passion for our Country, has just been named the next DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF THE FBI, by the man who will be the best ever Director, Kash Patel,” Trump wrote.

Bongino, who gained prominence as a Fox News contributor and now hosts “The Dan Bongino Show,” responded to the news on X, thanking Trump, newly appointed FBI Director Kash Patel, and Attorney General Pam Bondi for the opportunity.

A Background in Law Enforcement and Media

Before his rise in conservative media, Bongino spent over a decade in law enforcement, first as an officer with the New York Police Department and later as a Secret Service agent. His academic credentials include a master’s degree in psychology from the City University of New York and an MBA from Pennsylvania State University.

Trump highlighted Bongino’s law enforcement background, as well as his success in the media industry, calling him “one of the most successful podcasters in the country, something he is willing and prepared to give up in order to serve.”

A Controversial Leadership Team

Bongino’s appointment comes just days after Kash Patel was confirmed as FBI Director following a contentious Senate approval process. Patel, a longtime Trump loyalist, has been a vocal critic of the Justice Department and the intelligence community. Now, alongside Attorney General Pam Bondi, Patel and Bongino will play key roles in shaping the future of federal law enforcement under Trump’s leadership.

Trump congratulated Bongino on his new role, saying he will be part of a team dedicated to restoring “fairness, justice, law, and order” across the country.

With Patel at the helm of the FBI and Bongino as his deputy, the agency is set for a significant shift in direction, reflecting Trump’s ongoing efforts to reshape the federal government in his vision.
